The implementation phase is where ambition meets reality. Success or failure is almost always determined by how disciplined the first eight weeks on site are.
Once contracts are signed, implementation begins with site mobilisation: hoarding, site office, water and power connection, insurances (all-risks and public liability), NCA compliance, and NEMA/OSHA notifications where required.
The next milestone is a locked baseline programme (typically Microsoft Project or Primavera) showing critical path, resource loading, and cash flow. Weekly progress is measured against this baseline, and slippages are reported the week they happen — not the month after.
Quality is protected through inspection and test plans (ITPs) at each stage: excavation, foundations, columns, slabs, roofing, and finishes. Nothing is closed up until it has been inspected and signed off.
Finally, expect and plan for change. On any real project, 5%–15% of scope will move. What matters is that every change is captured in writing, priced, approved, and reflected in the updated programme.
